Hi Cats!

In June of 1999 COTC, Elf Life and Alice debuted on the web. Elf Life debuted on June 14th and both Alice and COTC just a week later. At the time, Carson Fire, Michael McKay-Fleming and I didn’t know of the other’s existence, but within a year our respective comics were all being hosted by Keenspot. In 2000, to commemorate our first year on the internet, we decided to do a crossover. Crisis on Infinite Keenworlds, named to spoof DC Comics’ Crisis on Infinite Earths, would blend the worlds of all three comics in a fun little romp. The story was also made to cross promote our comics and so it was presented in a way that made the reader skip from comic to comic. Nine years later, with Carson and Michael’s kind permission, the story is presented here as a whole. Here ya go …

Crisis on Infinite Keenworlds

All three comics have seen good times, bad times and down times, but we are all still out there in one form or another. I wish to thank Carson and Michael for the good times back then and I wish them well in the years to come. Visit Alice at http://alice.alicecomics.com and Elf Life at http://www.bookelves.com. Both are extraordinary works and should not be missed. Thanks, guys!

There are two sequels to this crossover, Thingamajig Shenanigans from Alice and Eleanor from COTC.

So, here’s the deal. I’ve been doing pretty good with the updates within the last few weeks. The Dracula story is going to be coming to a close, most likely, early next year. The gods willing, that is. So, with this countdown in mind, I have been thinking about promoting the comic and what things I could do to further that end. I use twitter a lot and have been blogging a little bit more, but really what I needed was some advice. So, I went to a very wise website and asked, basically, how I could get my readership back. The advice was – relaunch. Effectively, end COTC and start up a new comic, even if it is w/ the same characters. Wow. Several emotions came running through me at the same time, but mostly I was just kind of stunned. Basically, this means that COTC can’t be saved. I know that this was one person’s opinion and in the end I’ll have to decide what to do, still it’s a bit of an eye opener.

After the Dracula story I had planned to move in another direction anyway, MUCH shorter stories, with more emphasis on character. Starting fresh and leaving COTC, well, that’s something I’ll have to think about. Please, let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi Cats!

Today begins a webcomic crossover between COTC and Woody After Hours. The crossover begins with this WAH comic. Woody After Hours is a webcomic about a late night talk show in Raleigh, NC and is written by Ben Carter and illustrated by Paul Westover. Ben is also a member of the NCWCCC.

First of all, this isn’t your normal crossover. There is no fighting upon first meeting and it all takes place in the WAH comic. The main character, Woody, is a late night talk show host in Raleigh, NC and he occasionally interviews characters from other webcomics. His first interview was of the main characters from Diablito Del Ring by Jesse Justice. Our very own Chelsea Chattan gets to be his second guest. What makes this concept very unique is that I drew Chelsea and Sebastian and the rest of the WAH was drawn by the very talented Paul Westover. So, it’s an integration of our comics into one.

Ben and I hammered out the script over lunch and I have to say it was an enjoyable experience. He’s a talented writer and really knows his subject. I know you will enjoy it. Here ya go, the most dangerous man in Raleigh late night (and knows to keep his hands to himself) …

The colors are of an insane beauty that contrast the dark tone of the story very nicely. And the story of the comics themselves are ethereal, existing separately and within the story as a whole. Needless to say, I advise you to check it out. Witch Knots has just started, so now is a good time to get in on it. You can also check out Ira’s other works at his main site at http://iramarcks.com. Go now! You won’t regret it!

We’ll do the other stuff first. I took the day off today, had to. Got gout in my foot again. I haven’t had it in quite a while, but anyway, hope to be back at it tomorrow. I’ve actually been quite busy in the last few weeks, doing COTC, guest art for another comic, a crossover, and getting involved in two collective projects. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about any of the projects w/ others just yet, though one is finished and another halfway completed. The two collective projects are in the planning stages.

For the main news bit, Tangents did another review of COTC. He tends to do them from time to time and I’m not sure I’ve ever posted anything about it. Well, it’s about time I did. Here’s Tangent’s most recent review. Tanget’s has reviewed and mentioned COTC quite a few times. You can find all the articles here. Thanks, Robert!

And that’s it!
