Hi all.
I have been approached by an ad company that would like to add on a “skin” advert to my site. For those who do not know, a skin basically encompasses the background of the site. Here is an example at Comic Book Resources. Honestly, they are less intrusive than pop-ups or expandable ads and I hear they pay very well. I could use some “very well” about now. Still, I wanted to run it by you guys to see what you think. I know it’s my site, but I do value your opinions very highly.
Thanks.
Go for it.
Do it. I would.
No sweat.
Well, depending on the content it might ruin the site’s impression. But hey, we all need to pay our rent.
As long as the contract is OK, go for it. But be sure to read it properly (no permanent obligations, regular payments you can verify, …).
And as long as you can keep the nice Chelea pic at the top
Since currently your background lower down is a simple dark-blue, a background like the one in the link wouldn’t even look bad, but from my impression the “attention value” is quite high (I really read all that text in the background!).
PS: Thank you for asking!
Is their website a good example of what the expect? I’ve done too much website design to say yeah or nay right off the bat without getting to look first.
They’ve got a busy site, so really the only place to click the ad is in the space made at the top for it, which they get around by put the web page with their banner into a box centered on my screen.
If everything from the Chelsea banner moves down some, I don’t think it will detract from the content. But I’d hate to see the Chelsea banner disappear to make room for it.
whatever you need to do to continue producing your excellent comic.
Captcha: “rent”. Go for it.
I think it’s a good idea. If I was able to contribute better through the tip jar, I would, but sadly, I can’t, and I’d hate to not have CoTC any more, so I think you need to do what’s best for CoTC to keep it going, and if that means a skin, that’s fine by me.
Go right ahead… you gotta survive
Do what you need to do…. we read for the story not the background anyway.
GREAT picture … can almost see the magic moving. One of your best works.
I look forward to reading the conclusion of the Dracula Tales… and then see the Chathams move forward from there…
It is nice to see a positive presentation of Wicca. : D
