Roger appears regularly in CRFH!!!. No further CotC appearances. |
Roger created by and copyright © 1998-2002 Maritza Campos of College Roomies From Hell!!! and appears with her permission.
The timeline for CRFH!!! is purposefully ambiguous, so these dates are approximated to tie in to CotC continuity.
Roger is a classic Alpha-Morph and appears to come from a family of morphs. Like his totem animal, the coyote, Roger is mostly a loner and often lives outside the mainstream realm of life.
We don’t know much about Roger’s early life. We know that he did learn that his mother was a were-coyote when he was relatively young.
Around 1992, Roger’s mother became locked in her coyote-morph form, unable to change back. She spends her time in the woods, hunting.
When we first meet him in CRFH!!! he is a college student. An incident with toxic waste caused a mutation, giving him a functional eye in his left hand. This makes Roger particularly special as both a mutant and a were-coyote.
He may have manifested as a morph in 1999. However, he first appeared in his coyote-morph form in mid-2000ish, when he rescued his friend Dave from being beaten to death by his other friend Mike.
Around October, 2000, Roger was one of the people the zombie and underling attendants of Fin-Groot-Taboo kidnapped to perform their ritual. The Underling in charge describes Roger as a mutant were-beast, meaning both a mutant and a were-coyote, not a were-coyote because he’s a mutant. Fortunately, the combined abilities of Roger and his friends, Elemental-Wizard Jacob Livingston, Chelsea, and Jubal were able to generate sufficient positive energy to send Fin-Groot-Taboo back to its home dimension.
In 2001, when his friends Dave and Margaret were lost, Roger’s mother attacked their search party (Mike, April, Roger, Marsha, and Chester the Cat). Roger recognised her and the two had a touching, but brief, reunion. At that time, she also told Roger why she disappeared, warning him that it would also happen to him now that he has manifested as a morph. She told him that when it happens, he’ll be happy to escape his human form. Roger is horrified to learn that his mother hunts humans, and doubly horrified to learn that it’s an inevitable and uncontrollable part of the process. The loss of control over transformations seems to suggest a curse of some type, but nothing has been confirmed.
Roger is a weirdness magnet. He never worries about catastrophe as he is usually surrounded by it. Roger is actually pretty smart, but he’s easily distracted and lost in his own world.
Pepe, his stuffed pet coyote, was his best friend until it was stolen. Since then he has searched for a suitable sidekick and made a wrong choice, but his current companion is Fluffy the Pet Rock.
