| Other appearances | Diane is a major character and appears in many story lines. |
Nothing is known about Diane’s early years. However we do know that because Chelsea and Corrine both manifested the Curse, Diane must carry the genes for high magick, they just aren’t active in her. She and Peter were hippies in the 1960s. While they were at Woodstock in 1969, he confessed his family curse to her. Of course, at the time they were stoned out of their minds and Diane didn’t believe him, especially when he announced that he was an amoeba.
Peter and Diane were married in 1970.
At some point Diane received training as a registered nurse.
Their first child, daughter Chelsea, was born on 1974-10-31, a date would turn out to be curiously appropriate. On 1976-06-12, Peter was killed in an automobile accident, hit by a drunk driver. He would never see his second daughter, Corrine, who was born only weeks later.
When she met Ben, she was just about dead broke and with two children to feed, Diane said yes to the marriage proposal. The two were married in 1977. They had a daughter, Cynthia, in 1978. Diane has always respected and admired Ben, but it has only been in the last few years that she can say she was in love with him. Ben and his two step-daughters never really managed to get along harmoniously, causing Diane to intercede on their behalf at times.
When Chelsea manifested as a morph, Diane kept her head. She was willing to participate in the ritual attempting to control Chelsea’s transformations. Since then, she has comforted Chelsea in her trials.
Chelsea was traumatised by her encounters with Eleanor that she was unwilling to talk to her mother about it. Diane had to get the story, second-hand, from Ruth who got it from Jacob Livingston. Somewhat against her better judgment, she told Cynthia’s husband Paul, who was worried about his wife. She ran up against his disbelief in spite of the evidence of his own eyes. Diane called him on the inconsistency, but he hasn’t figured out what to think or believe. Diane finally got Chelsea to talk to her and was horrified to learn that Eleanor had conjured an image of her and tortured Chelsea in the form.
A hippie in the 1960s, Diane’s views have changed little over the years. She manages to be a calming influence in the face of the storms Chelsea has been facing.
