McRae, Alexander Jubal

History

Nothing is currently known about Jubal’s early years. It appears that Haven, NC, is his hometown and doesn’t see to plan on moving anytime soon. He was friends with Chelsea before she moved to New York City to pursue her ambitions to be an artist.

Jubal is one of two DJs working at the local radio station, WEDN-AM, working the dayshift. (SJ Simmons is on nightshift.)

In 1999, when Chelsea returned to Haven for her half-sister Cynthia’s wedding to Jubal’s brother Paul, Jubal and Chelsea discovered they still had feelings for each other, even after three years apart. After Chelsea manifested as a morph and decided to remain in Haven, Jubal has consistently shown that he was in love with her, regardless of her problems.

Their romance has been very rocky, due in large part to Chelsea’s inability to control her transformations.

Jubal was shot and killed at the beginning of the “Council of Three” story line, but Corrine was able to lock his soul inside a voodoo soul jar. However the jar was broken and a Resurrection spell had to be hastily cast. Since his return Jubal has demonstrated a few magickal abilities including talking with Sebo. (Having Jubal actually understand his insults pleases Sebastian greatly.)

Coming so close to losing Jubal made Chelsea realise just how much she did love him. Their relationship has been progressing satisfactorily.

His friend Wald left Haven for a while to attend his brother’s funeral. When Wald didn’t return for months, Jubal was worried and started checking around. Little did he know that Wald had been turned into a vampire. Wald returned to Haven in December, 2001. His need for blood put a momentary damper on his friendship with Jubal. However, Jubal allowed Wald to take some of his blood for the moment and consulted with the wizard Jacob Livingston for some better solution. (Jubal really does care for his friends.)

The separation spell cast by Rose Wilson on Jubal and Chelsea had its greatest effect on Jubal, causing him to blame her for all his problems. He left town hastily before Jacob Livingston could investigate for hostile magick. However, Jubal’s true feelings, his love for Chelsea, could not be negated by Rose’s magick. He returned to Haven, accompanied by several of the Cats, in time to help save Chelsea’s life when she tried to commit suicide.

Personality

Jubal tries to lead a fairly care-free and contented life. Jubal is a kid at heart, literally. He is just as happy playing with his action figures, reading comics, or shooting hoops as he is anything else.
