Livingston, Jacob

History

Jacob was born to normal parents in San Francisco, CA. At a very young age he was caught in a house fire and rescued by firefighters. The blaze started in his bedroom and the authorities could not determine any point of origin. The only thing for sure was that little Jacob should have died. His entire room was burnt to a cinder.

Jacob’s parents, escaping the blaze too, were concerned by the incident. They traveled to an old friend of the family who had a library. There they found out that Jacob was an elemental fire wizard. Reluctantly Jacob’s parents moved to be closer to their friend. Here Jacob became a student of the librarian and embarked upon a life devoted to the magick that engulfed him.

Jacob has been Melpomene’s mentor since her attempted suicide in San Francisco in the early 1990s. He has apparently been involved in the War against Deus Lupus for some time, perhaps due to Melpomene’s influence (since she had a relationship with Deus Lupus). Jacob apparently also acts as mentor for the were-boar Jeremy Moon, who is currently undergoing therapy.

With Melpomene gone and Jeremy receiving therapy, Jacob was feeling somewhat at loose ends with no one to mentor, so he has opened a magic shop and library, the Livingston Library in Chelsea’s home town of Haven, NC, and has hired her to work there, for minimum wage. He has since then resurrected Jubal, helped Chelsea defeat Eleanor, and tried to break Rose’s spell on Jubal.

He has contacts in the vampire community, at least some of whom will help him out by providing secret recipes.

Jacob is also known to go trading to acquire items for his occult apothecary side-line (and also perhaps to look for more rare tomes for the Library). One presumes that he deals with everyone in the Netherworld, no matter what dimensions they choose to travel to or live in.

Powers

Jacob is a wizard who can control fire. This extends to creating it, controlling it, and extinguishing it. He does not yet have complete control of his element, but control will be a life-long pursuit.

Oh, and he also plays a mean piano.

Personality

Being a wizard, Jacob can focus on a problem, investigate it, and solve it with reasonably good precision and timing. He undoubtedly learned patience as a mentor to various morphs, including Melpomene, Jeremy, and sometimes Chelsea.

He seems to have less patience for those who just fool around, such as his nephew Duncan.
