Harris, Martel

History

Martel’s father was a New Orleans Cop and his mother was a witch. Martel inherited none of the magickal skills his mother possessed, but he did have a curiosity for it. He did however get his father’s keen eye and nose for investigation. Martel was going to follow in his father’s footsteps, sort of. He went to college to study forensic psychology. He graduated with honors.

Soon afterwards he joined the force and began working his way up. About a year after Martel got out of college, in 1974, a were-wolf killed his father. He was not really certain what had killed his father at first, but after speaking with his mother he got a better idea. Martel hunted the beast down and killed it. It was then he was introduced to a world he had only heard of in fairy tales. True, his mother was a witch, but she kept most of what that entailed from Martel. She wanted him to have a normal life.

When this plan fell through she suggested that Martel begin studying the Craft; that with great effort and dedication anyone could become blessed with great magick. Martel began studying the Craft intensively, in the wizard tradition. His dedication led to his quick growth in power and ability until he had reached the level of Craftsman. (These are practitioners who have no direct connection to magick, but through study and diligence they became strong with it.) After studying for many years Martel went back to his old haunts and eventually became involved with Interpol, joining a secret division that watched the ways of the Netherworld.

Martel became involved with Melpomene when he bid against her for a diary while investigating the deaths of seven witches in Canada. Melpomene got the book, but thanks to a tip with a contact in the Foundation, he was able to track her down. He helped try and destroy Eleanor when she appeared on Earth, but that attempt was unsuccessful. He later went with Melpomene to go after Chelsea to defeat Eleanor. Martel took Dot and Alice back up to Canada, and then presumably went back to Interpol.

Personality

A tenacious investigator, he used that same determination to become a craftsman wizard.
