All The Cats share the same origin: they were rescued from the 20th century when they were thrown from a speeding car into a river. Each Cat was reborn through Magick and sent back in time to live with a practitioner or morph who excelled in magick. Sometimes they stayed with a particulal family for hundreds of years. Sebastian himself has been a familiar to the Chattans for over five hundred years.
Sebastian in particular is a male, blue-furred cat.
He is generally arrogant, noble, smart, aloof, and occasionally kind at times.
He is self-described as “quite the snot”.
Sebastian has power over time andspace and magick.
He is the most magickal of all The Cats.
Sebastian is able to perform powerful magick.
In “CFRH meets COTC”,
Sebo breaks
the chains holding April.
He also casts a spell on her, allowing her to understand him.
Later he makes her forget it all.
In “Eleanor”,
he is shown blasting the Uasal Witch with
lightning bolts.
Sebastian can actually communicate with other magickal beings.
It’s sort of a language that he has.
When ordinary humans hear him “talk” he comes across as making little growling and yipping sounds,
but to those high in magick, he has a very refined human-sounding voice.
After Jubal underwent the Resurrection Spell, he was able to
understand Sebo.
A very long time ago, Sebastian was apparently in Babylon.
He alludes to an incident involving a
Babylonian mage
and the demon Fin-Groot-Taboo, but nothing is explained.
It is known that he was the familiar of the powerful witch
Eleanor Uasal in the 15th century CE.
He was involved in the action that bound Eleanor in an iron coffin.
In more recent times, Sebastian has been the familiar to
Ruth Chattan, Chelsea’s father’s mother.
While we don’t know when he joined Ruth, he was certainly
with her
in 1986.
Ruth has nicknamed him Sebo.
While he remains Ruth’s familiar,
he has definitely taken an interest in Chelsea’s developing magickal abilities.
In 2001, he and Anna Crenshaw
met.
Anna understood him because of her childlike innocence.
Sebastian would never admit it, but he probably enjoyed playing with her,
in spite of the silly clothes she put on him.
The release of Eleanor from her captivity apparently caused
Sebastians various “big cat” transformations.
In the first
instance he did not seem aware of the change until Anna pointed it out.
The second
instance occurred when he portalled Chelsea and himself to Eleanor’s realm
in time to prevent harm to the children the Uasal Witch has in her clutches.
During his confrontation with Eleanor,
Sebastian was dropped into a
firepit
and killed.
Fortunately, this wasn’t entirely
fatal,
as this Cat at least was reborn as a kitten,
lacking his powers and speech, but alive.
(This was the start of his fifth or sixth life;
he seems to have lost
count.)
Ruth has pointed out that the great thing
about a talking cat is that threats
work.
