It would be easy to judge these practitioners,
but not all of them were evil.
Most concerned themselves only with keeping a harmonic balance
in their own lives and stayed neutral in the ways of good and evil.
The Order of Dark Practitioners was a group created sometime during the two-thousand-year stretch of the Portal Wars. The individuals each deserted the war efforts to concentrate on filling their own needs. They used magick and magickal knowledge to further their own purposes.
It would be easy to judge these practitioners,
but not all of them were evil.
Most concerned themselves only with keeping a harmonic balance
in their own lives and stayed neutral in the ways of good and evil.
Some, however, used their power and knowledge of magick to destroy, murder, and torture. Unfortunately, it was these practitioners in the Order who rose to become the leaders.
There are rumours that the powerful wizard Gustov was once involved with the Order.
Sometime in 1445 CE, Eleanor Uasal of the Clan Chattan became involved with the Order of Dark Practitioners when she met one of them, a wizard who interested her in the tenets of the philosophy. She used them to learn more magick and increase her power. They became aware of her Curse and nourished it.
When her atrocities were finally discovered, Eleanor had enough skill to bind herself to her grimoire and create a pocket dimension for refuge. From this unassailable position, she and several other Dark Practitioners kidnapped humans for torture, murder, and human sacrifice. They toyed with magick and with lives for their own desires and perverted pleasures. They killed thousands. By 1456, Eleanor was half-mad with her Curse and turned on her fellow Practitioners, killing them one by one. The rest of the Order sent assassins to take her out, but they too ended up as victims of the Uasal Witch.
Eleanor made a rare appearance in the earth dimension, confronting the Dark Practitioners and demanding that they make her High Priestess, or die. They acceded to her demands, but she killed half of them anyway before returning to her pocket dimension. From there she ruled until her mysterious disappearance in 1461.

The Order of Dark Practitioners was never the same
after Eleanor’s tenure as High Priestess.
Perhaps everyone was afraid she would return.
Certainly, any leader they elected would have
to deal with Eleanor if she showed up again.
(Remember that the actual circumstances of
Eleanor’s disappearance were carefully kept secret;
they had no way of knowing that she was magickally bound.)
In any case, the Dark Practitioners disbanded as a formal Order in 1476.
On 2000-03-12, Eleanor was awakened in her pocket dimension, by a spell being cast from her Grimoire by Chelsea Chattan. She was very weak. A witch by the name of Eric Hanford, using a spell from the diary of the mad witch, was able to access Eleanor’s pocket dimension. Three months later, they emerged, searching for her Grimoire in Canada, and allowing Eleanor to regain more of her strength.
By July 2000, Eleanor and her acolyte Eric start recruiting
servants to reinstate the Order of Dark Practitioners.
This time, the Order lasted only eight months
before Eleanor was defeated and destroyed
taking with her the pocket dimension, the Grimoire,
and any Dark Pracititioners who escaped the wrath of Chelsea Chattan.
The night of 2001-03-04 marks the end of the Order’s second incarnation.
